The Lodge
Experience the authenticity of a classic mountain lodge. |
|
|
At Winding Brook, we have woven the rustic feeling of hand-hewn beams, knotty pine and native fieldstone with warm, gracious hospitality. Life here is laid back and uncomplicated, much the way
it was sixty years ago when the lodge first opened its doors to guests. In fact, we are one of the oldest mountain retreats in the east and a cornerstone in Stowe's rich history.Off the
beaten path, Winding Brook is situated well away from the busy Mountain Road on a five acre wooded lot in a serene, peaceful setting. Recently renovated, the decor is reminiscent of the 1940s
when the lodge was in its childhood. The warmth and charm of wood floors and antique furnishings have been combined with modern conveniences such as private baths and an outdoor hot tub

and lose yourself in one of our nooks or crannies. The downstairs common areas are spacious and inviting. Warm yourself by the massive fieldstone fireplace in our living room, laze in the 'big
chair' in the Sun Room, attempt one of our many jigsaw puzzles in the Fieldstone Room, or shoot some pool in the Game Room. A refreshing swimming pool sits just outside the back door. All
fifteen of our cozy guest rooms (left open for viewing when not occupied) are individually decorated and each has a style and character of it's own

A breakfast you won't forget. |
|
|
A hearty, home-style breakfast is served every morning in our brookside dining room. All of America's favorites, including buttermilk griddle cakes, homemade French toast, and farm-fresh eggs
are served hot from the kitchen. On the lighter side, fresh fruit, cereal and yogurt are also available. Our tableside toasters, a tradition at the lodge for decades, provide you with all the
warm toast and English muffins you can eat. But save some room...afternoon tea and sweets are served in high season.
